05 Jun 2018

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF MIGRATION OFFICER

This Public Notice serves to inform the general public and our valued clients that following the announcement of the Minister for Immigration and Border Security, this Authority (ICA) will be suspending the services of all Migration Service Agents from lodging applications for visa, passport and citizenship at Central Government Office.

This suspension was effective as of Friday, 01 June 2018 for an indefinite period to put in place a policy and process to register, regulate and monitor all Migration Service Agents or businesses involved in providing migration services before the suspension is lifted.

In view of the suspension, all recognised and registered Migration Service Agents and companies engaged in human resource services in the country are urgently required to commence registration of their companies with ICA commencing immediately by providing the company name, business location, contact addresses including the IPA registration and certification papers and the IRC taxation number. A Registration Form can be obtained from ICA website: www.immigration.gov.pg.

All freelance agents are banned from lodging any applications for visa, passport or citizenship and are required to register with IPA to undergo similar processes as those legally existing registered companies.

The registered Migration Service Agents and companies will be endorsed by the Chief Migration Officer to continue provide their services pending a Migration Service Agent Policy to be in place.

This Authority seeks the full cooperation of all registered and recognised Migration Service Agents and companies to comply with the above requirements to conduct their business with ICA or face the consequences of been denied access to visa and passport services.

For those collecting PNG visas and passports on behalf of a passport holder, the applicant is required to authorise the person who will be collecting their passport with a Consent Form and to produce an Identification Card before a travel document can be released. This Consent Form is also available on our website.

This Authority wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for your understanding and cooperation.
